Our program was designed to fulfill the needs of Spanish teachers and students that hadn’t yet been met with alternative approaches. We are one of the few, truly comprehensive and cumulative, 8-year programs for elementary learners.
While we recognize the importance of identifying objectives and upholding structure, we equally recognize the need for flexibility. This provides teachers with the freedom to adapt activities as they see fit for their classrooms, even when they have learners with varying degrees of Spanish proficiency.
Our materials depart from traditional models to adopt a more holistic and progressive approach toward language acquisition. The Vivamos Spanish curriculum focuses on exciting, lively engagement to ensure that children enjoy themselves as they simultaneously create a deep and well-rounded foundation of familiarity with the Spanish language.
Vivamos Spanish was developed across many years of research, hands-on experience in the classroom, and most importantly, discussions and collaborations with actual students at each grade level to ensure that all learning components and activities would enchant and captivate future students.
Our program materials include:
1 Comprehensive Textbook for All Grades
8 Leveled Workbooks with Accompanying Teacher Guides
A Membership Site that Brings Learning to Life
A Versatile Range of Teaching Resources
Our textbook and workbooks form the core of our program’s structured framework, while our Membership Site and Teaching Resources support language concepts through interactive games, lively videos, memorable songs, and fun reading activities. This dynamic approach to learning provides students with the ideal environment to develop language in an organic and exciting way!
Our textbook is uniquely applicable to all grades, allowing for streamlined lesson planning and adaptable activities. Students embark upon a cohesive learning journey, observing how fundamental concepts develop over time and deepening their understanding of the language as a whole.
Within the textbook:
Mini Lessons teach a wide variety of language concepts in a fun, concise, and simple-to-grasp format.
Reading Activities combine grammatical concepts with vocabulary.
Conversational Skits apply language skills in a practical, realistic format.
The 8 workbook levels of Vivamos Spanish create a roadmap that leads to fluency. As students advance, the textbook’s language concepts are continually reinforced, with their complexity gradually increasing throughout each workbook. This guarantees a robust and thorough understanding of the Spanish language by the time students complete the program.
Additionally, all workbook levels are designed to accommodate a range of grades, empowering teachers to select the workbooks most suitable for their students’ abilities and needs!
A Teacher Guide accompanies each workbook level, offering clear and concise information to seamlessly transform every workbook activity into a comprehensive class lesson.
We’ve designed our program to deliver a streamlined and enjoyable teaching experience. While our teaching tools are comprehensive, they’re presented in a straightforward and intuitive format.
Vocabulary serves as the foundation to sentence-building. Each vocabulary word in the program pairs with a unique, vibrant image. This fast-tracks language acquisition through consistency and visual association.
Levels A, B, C, and D focus on small groups of words while venturing through each letter of the Spanish alphabet and beyond.
Levels E, F, G, and H broaden students’ vocabulary by delving into 9 different themes, each comprised of 24 words.
All Levels steadily build upon and expand students’ adjectives and verbs vocabulary knowledge.
Each Mini Lesson within the textbook focuses on teaching a specific topic or grammatical concept. They were designed for versatility, allowing for a fun, mix-and-match approach when paired with our leveled workbook activities.
Included Mini Lessons
Students will learn how to create sentences by gradually combining Vocabulary with Mini Lessons. It’s a magic formula that leads to fluency! The progression below outlines an example of sentence-building development across workbook levels.
Popular Phrase + Noun = Me gusta el helado.
Popular Phrase + Noun + Adjective = Me gusta el helado frío.
Noun + Es-Son + Adjective = El helado es frío.
Pronoun + Verb + Noun + Adjective = Yo como el helado frío.
Our program’s fun, visual exercises will lead young learners to mastering the skills of forming sentences, stories, and full conversations!
Challenging concepts become fun and memorable with our creative teaching methods.
Conju-CAKE It!
Learn verb conjugations with a layered cake using one pronoun conjugation per layer.
Adapt-a Donut!
An adjective sits in the center of the donut, and the donut is divided into four sections. Each section represents the four noun adaptations: Masculine Singular, Feminine Singular, Masculine Plural, and Feminine Plural.
Ice Cream Sentence!
Nicknamed P.V.N.A., students build their sentences with the visual of an ice cream cone.
Cone = Pronoun
First Ice Cream Scoop = Verb (Conjugated According to the Pronoun)
Second Ice Cream Scoop = Noun
Cherry = Adjective (Adapted to the Noun)
Our adaptable workbook activities provide teachers with the flexibility to conduct lessons most fitting for their classes, even when students have varying degrees of Spanish proficiency in the same classroom.
Our innovative mix-and-match curriculum method makes it easy, requiring little to no additional planning. The base of many workbook activities focus on a specific vocabulary theme, and teachers can adjust its complexity by simply pairing it with a Mini Lesson that fits their students’ needs. Students can even complete the same page in different ways!
For the Vocabulary Theme of “Farm Animals,” we will use “El pollito” as an example below.
Students can:
Convert words from singular to plural. “Los pollitos”
Write short sentences with popular phrases. “Veo el pollito.”
Describe using colors. “El pollito es amarillo.”
Practice verb conjugations. “Yo cuido el pollito.”
There are endless combinations!
