Workbook Levels
Quick Guide
Follow these simple benchmarks to help you select workbook levels for each grade!
Before beginning Level A...
Students do not need any previous knowledge of the Spanish language, and most will not yet be familiar with writing letters or words in Spanish or English.
Before beginning Level B...
It’s helpful if students have a very basic understanding of some vocabulary and short phrases, mainly through image recognition and verbal cues.
Before beginning Level C...
It’s helpful if students know how to write each letter of the Spanish alphabet to form basic words and short phrases.
Before beginning Level D...
It’s helpful if students understand the difference between masculine and feminine nouns, and how to assign articles (El/La/Los/Las) to each noun.
Before beginning Level E...
It’s helpful if students have the ability to write simple sentences using singular/plural nouns with "es/son," and if they grasp an introductory understanding of how to adapt a few colors and adjectives to nouns.
Before beginning Level F...
It’s helpful if students are able to write more complex sentences with a wider range of articles, singular/plural nouns, and adjective adaptations.
Before beginning Level G...
It’s helpful if students understand how to conjugate verbs in the present tense and how to write basic sentences using these conjugations.
Before beginning Level H...
It’s helpful if students know how to write a variety of more complex sentences and short paragraphs utilizing a range of articles, conjugated verbs, singular/plural nouns, and adapted adjectives.
Are your upper grade students learning Spanish for the first time?
Rather than starting with the earliest levels (which are designed for younger students), we suggest beginning with Level E. Many of our workbook activities are adaptable to different degrees of proficiency, allowing you to meet students where they are. Additionally, you can always print workbook pages from earlier levels with your Membership Site subscription, which will provide extra support to your students as they strengthen their knowledge of foundational concepts.
